Pastoral Leadership Institute (PLI)
On the evening of April 5, in Palacios, Texas, PLI celebrated the graduation of the first group of Spanish PLI students. After a spirited time of congregational praise and worship, each graduate was called to the platform to receive a certificate of completion as well as a PLI towel, a tradition that began with the first English PLI graduation. Why a towel? Though PLI's logo may look like a surfboard and beach towel to you, its really a stained glass window (representing ministry) with a basin and a towel (representing foot washing, an act of humble service). Together our logo depicts servant leadership in ministry. We hope the PLI towel will remind our graduates that they should lead by serving... just like Jesus did.
Florida District PLI Grad
Diego Mira

Winter Garden, FL
Diego says, "The Lord used PLI to transform my life and confirm my calling. Every step of the way, God opened the doors; so I never felt tired or desperate. Already I'm using the tools acquired through PLI to work with the Holy Spirit in bringing life transformation to people in our community as they develop an intimate relationship with Jesus. PLI is an excellent opportunity to grow in knowledge and in spirit and to meet other brothers and sisters with a similar passion and calling."
Diego is now part of the Spanish PLI teaching staff.

Mission in Haiti
I recently had the opportunity to sit down with Pastor Carmello Guerrilus, the pastor of Eglise Tabernacle Dieu est Amour, a Haitian church located in Orlando. Carmello had just returned from a trip to Haiti during which he was checking up on a church he planted in the Port-Au-Prince area several years ago. Carmello showed me some video of the trip and I was able to see the church worshiping during special services. There was also some video footage of several people getting baptized in a river. My meeting with Pastor Guerrilus made me realize that the ministry impact of the Florida District is going well beyond the boundaries of the Sunshine State.
As a district, we are praying about how we can be more intentional about ministry in the country of Haiti, a nation with so many physical and spiritual needs. Please continue to pray along with other leaders that God will give us wisdom in moving forward with mission and ministry in Haiti.
